Internationally, Joel has served on the voting academy for the American Choreography Awards – honouring outstanding choreography across feature film, television, music video and commercials. Joel was also invited to serve on the voting academy for the B.E.T. Awards.
Joel has taken part in several industry panels to advise on issues affecting the dance competition world – from what judges look for in a winning routine, to age appropriate costuming and music choices.
